Collaboration with other charities:
- Cruise Scotland Recognizing the lack of face-to-face bereavement support for under-16s in Orkney, particularly those affected by suicide, Soma’s Light is funding the training of volunteers to provide this essential support locally – training provided by Cruise Bereavement Scotland . We have already managed to fund 2 local people who have undertaken the training and started working with the local youngsters in need.
- “See Me” is a government-funded organization dedicated to reducing the stigma of mental health and promoting awareness within local clubs and groups. Soma’s Light is supporting the training of volunteers to work with young people and community groups in Orkney, utilizing the resources provided by “See Me.”
- Mikey’s Line : We have extended multiple invitations to Mikey’s Line to engage with our local community and forge connections with local secondary schools, too. Our objective is to establish a strong working relationship. We have already scheduled a visit to Inverness to Mike’s Line HQ in order to facilitate a collaborative partnership between our organizations, taking necessary steps to provide much-needed support in Orkney.
- James’s Support Group : We have successfully laid the groundwork for a long-term partnership with this dedicated charity. We are optimistic about our mutual support in combating suicide and look forward to strengthening our joint efforts.
- Local Charities: In the first year of our group’s existence, we contributed over £10,000 to various mental health initiatives in Orkney. Also in the major local show events this summer we are representing ourselves together in collaboration with Orkney Blide Trust, See Me and ORSAS.
