In February 2023, Ibolya and Szabolcs Veres brought together family and friends at Scapa to remember their beloved child and begin something meaningful from loss.
With candles and quiet reflection, we “passed on Soma’s Light” before walking to the pier together—ending with warmth, soup, and connection at the Sea Cadets building.
This gathering marked the very beginning of Soma’s Light—a community coming together to support others affected by suicide, and a promise that no one should feel alone in their grief. The gathering marked the start of a series of fundraising events for Mental health Charities- OCT, Orkney Blide Trust, Touched by Suicide.
