On Friday 27th of February, our hearts burst with pride of the young people from Stronsay Junior High who have won the Isles YPI final.
Their final was held in the King Street Hall in Kirkwall this afternoon. They were competing with Sanday Junior High.
YPI Stands for the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative and it is a
“Major active citizenship programme in Scottish secondary schools, managed and principally funded by The Wood Foundation. It empowers young people to engage in philanthropy by researching local social issues and grassroots charities, with the goal of securing a £3,000 grant for a chosen charity. “
We as a charity have been so lucky to have had many groups of pupils from various secondary schools in Orkney choose our charity for their projects.
With Stromness Academy’s chosen winner been for Soma’s Light, we have received two grants from the YPI Initiative and are over the moon with the support from our young people!
Thank you to Arya, Robbie and Rosie ( unfortunately not present)
